📚 Glossary - Trading Terms & Definitions

TradeScore (0-100)

A composite score combining multiple technical factors. Higher scores indicate stronger bullish signals. Factors include momentum (30%), trend quality (25%), oscillators (15%), VWAP alignment (15%), and liquidity (15%).

Entry Price

The recommended price to buy the stock. Based on current market price.

Stop Loss

Price at which to exit the trade to limit losses. Calculated using ATR (Average True Range) for volatility adjustment - set at entry minus 0.7×ATR or 1% below entry, whichever is wider.

R1, R2, R3 (Targets)

Resistance levels or profit targets. R1 (quick profit at +0.4%), R2 (entry + 0.8×ATR), R3 (entry + 1.3×ATR). These are volatility-adjusted exit points.

VWAP (Volume Weighted Average Price)

Average price weighted by volume. Price above VWAP indicates bullish momentum; below indicates bearish. Used as a key validation signal.

ATR (Average True Range)

A volatility indicator measuring price movement range. Higher ATR = higher volatility. Used to set dynamic stop-loss and target levels that adapt to each stock's volatility.

RSI (Relative Strength Index)

Momentum oscillator (0-100). Values 50-70 are optimal for buying. Below 30 = oversold, above 70 = overbought. Measures speed and magnitude of price changes.

MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence)

Trend-following momentum indicator. When MACD line crosses above signal line, it's a bullish signal. Shows relationship between two moving averages.

Position Sizing (Qty)

Number of shares to buy based on risk management. Calculated as: Risk per trade (₹5,000) ÷ (Entry - Stop Loss). Ensures consistent risk across all trades.

Status: "Ready"

✓ Ready means all validation checks passed: price above VWAP, near 15-min high, good liquidity (low spread), and Nifty index is bullish. Safe to trade.

Status: "Wait"

⚠ Wait means one or more validation checks failed. The stock may not be optimal for entry right now. Check which specific readiness criteria failed before trading.

15m High Check

Validates if current price is at or near the 15-minute candle high (≥98%). Confirms breakout momentum for intraday trading.

RV (Relative Volume)

Current volume compared to average volume. RV ≥ 1.3 indicates strong participation. Note: Historical data may be unavailable from TradingView, causing this check to fail conservatively.

Spread Check

Measures liquidity by checking the difference between high and low prices. Spread ≤ 5 basis points (0.05%) ensures tight spreads and good liquidity for execution.

Index Alignment

Checks if Nifty 50 index is above VWAP on 15-min chart. Confirms overall market is bullish before taking individual stock positions.

Moving Averages (MA)

EMA20 (20-period Exponential MA), SMA50/100/200 (Simple Moving Averages). Used to identify trend direction. Bullish when price is above MAs and MAs are aligned (50>100>200).
